USA Football / Certification Instructions for 2022
All NYO football coaches must be certified each season through USA Football. Please get started with the certification process right away so that you will be finished prior to working with players in August. The good news is that the course for those who were certified last season is much shorter this season.
The length of the course will vary on whether you were certified last season. For those who took the course last year, we are told the time to re-certify will be much shorter this year.
Directions for getting started with the certification follows:
- Go to USA Football Youth Certification
- Be sure to that your organization (Northside Youth Organization) has been entered. It is important USA Football knows you are part of NYO in order for NYO to pay for the course fee and that your certification will be forwarded to NYO.
- Click on "Get Certified"
- Select either Tackle or Flag
- Alternative Promo Codes:

· Click "Update Price"
· Click "Sign Up For Course!"
· Start Certification
NYO pays for the course by providing a Promo Code. Coaches must associate with NYO in order to use the Promo code and have the certification results provided to NYO. To associate with NYO follow these directions:
- Log in to their USA Football account
- Go to the “Organizations” tab on their dashboard
- Scroll down to “Find New Organization”
- Enter Northside Youth Organization Inc underneath “League Name” and click “Search Organizations”
- Once, Northside Youth Organization Inc is listed, they will click “Associate”
The full Youth Coach Certification is currently a three-hour course, and will cover the topics below. The recertification will take 30-90 minutes, depending on what a coach completed last year.

- Abuse Prevention (every other year)
- Foundations of Transformational Coaching
- Foundations of Quality Coaching
- Principles of Contact (for contact coaches only)
