Dates for 2026 Season 

Coaches Clinic for tackle leagues – Sunday, August 2, 2026 – 4:30 to 6:30       (This instructional event is for coaches only)

Coaches Clinic for flag leagues - Sunday, August 2, 2026 - 3:00 to 5:00      (This instructional event is for coaches only)

Training Camp – August 4, 2026 through August 6, 2026 - 5:00 to 7:00   (Flag players do NOT attend)
The objective of Training Camp is to enhance player safety by providing instruction on proper techniques, light conditioning and heat acclimation before tryouts.  Training Camp sessions will be led by NYO coaches.  Instructions will be sent to parents in advance of this function.

Tryouts – Saturday, August 8, 2026 - Instructions  for parents about tryouts will appear on the NYO website in late July.  All players are placed on teams and will play at least half the time during games.  "Tryouts" aid NYO is fairly placing players on the various teams.  Players will be divided into groups based on grade as to what time they will attend during the morning or early afternoon .  Parents will receive instructions by email shortly before tryouts about their specific arrival time and this information will also be available through NYO’s website. Players are to wear full football equipment. They will be weighed, timed and evaluated in full-contact drills. 

Make up Tryout – August 11, 2026 at 5:00 PM - This will be for those players who were unable to attend the tryouts on August 8th. Players must attend either the Tryout on August 8th or August 11th in order to be eligible for the draft and participate in the NYO season.

Parent Meeting –  August 16, 2026 - Time/location TBD

Drafts – August 16, 2026 and August 17, 2026.  Beginning with those in the 1st grade, players are assigned to teams by means of a draft.  Only coaches attend the drafts which occur on these dates.  Parents will be notified shortly following the draft by the coach who drafted their child to communicate practice plans for the team.  Please assume practices will commence immediately.

Games Begin – NEW IN 2026 - Games will begin the week BEFORE Labor Day, with the first games being the K/1st Flag games on August 28 and August 29.  Games in 2G through 6G will begin on August 31, 2026.  There will be no games on Labor Day weekend.

Championship Games – Monday, November 16, 2026 -  The playoffs will conclude with the championship games for all leagues on this date.

Peach Bowl – Thursday, November 19, 2026 All star games for players in grade 3rd and above.
