NYO 8U Bulls @ the Ocee Summer Slam

29 All-Star Teams competed to be number one at the Ocee Summer Slam Tournament last weekend.  The teamwork from a steady NYO Bulls roster rendered victorious after 3 days of baseball. Head Coach Seth Adams  said " The hard work at practice and games over the past three weeks all came together and clicked this weekend. The boys had 3 dominant performances against the teams in their classification and 2 convincing wins agains A-level competition. Great defense and early offense strikes was really our formula for success. I'm very proud of all our players...everyone contributed to this championship win. Go Bulls." 
Tournament play started with easy wins over the 8U Dacula Pee Wee All-Stars and Newtown, 22-0 and 26-4 respectively.  Sunday's matchups proved to be more challenging. The NYO Bulls first test was against the Buckhead Braves. A centerfield catch at the fence by Jackson Sapp sealed the 14-11 hard sought victory. Hot bats and lock-down defense put them over the Buford Wolves 15-1 in less than 45 minutes. Harvey Barry hit the first home run for the day deep over right centerfield.
Rhys Brown hit a 3-run homer to deep centerfield for The Bulls in the championship matchup en route to a 7-4 besting of the Sandy Springs Storm. Assistant Coach Wes Sapp had this to say "I was really happy with how the  boys played this weekend. Our defense was spectacular, particularly in the championship game where we held a good Sandy Springs team to four runs. James Kneer was tournament MVP because of his glove at second base, but the entire group had their best defensive weekend so far this summer." The NYO Bulls were runner-ups in the All Star Early Bird Bash making this their first tournament win of the 2021 Summer Season. The NYO  Bulls roster includes Hudson Adams, Harvey Barry, Calvin Black, Rhys Brown, Charlie Butler, Jaxton Jones, Beckett Kaineg, James Kneer, Mason Lloyd, Worth Lumry, Jeffrey Murphy and Jackson Sapp.
