The last time that Virginia Hobbs and Jordan Upchurch graced the NYO basketball courts, they were doing so as star players in our girls basketball league.  They are shown in the picture as proud championship players, in a past year.  They came back to NYO this season, in a different role, but with very similar results.

Eager to impart their wisdom and skills to the next generation of girls playing basketball at NYO, they took on the head coaching position for the Rookie knights (a fitting team name for the 2 Pace Academy coaches).  To no one’s surprise, but everyone’s delight, those Rookie Knights, mentored by the Hobbs/Upchurch tandem, captured the regular season championship and then continued their magic run as they won the Rookie tournament championship following the regular season.

NYO is always happy to welcome back its alumnae, and in the case of Virginia and Jordan, it was especially gratifying to see the success they have had and have brought to their younger counter-parts.
