The Deacons and Bulldogs landed 1 and 2 in the NYO majors regular season this year, with the Mike Drum coached-Deacons finishing off an undefeated season. But to emphasize that you never know, that order of finish was established when, in game one of the entire regular season, played in the E. Rivers gym on a warm early December night, a Bulldogs (coached by John Ham) 3 point shot bounced off of the rim at the buzzer, giving the Deacons a close opening day win. If that shot goes in, then 2 months later the majors has a different regular season champion and 1 seed for the play-offs. Those early games can count.
Majors' basketball play-offs will start next week-end, when every team once again has a shot to come out on top. The picture to the left shows the Bears Nicholas Verlander scoring against the Longhorns, in action last week.
